Repairs and Returns

Repairs

We are able to repair only items purchased from Atelier Shinji. Please note that we are not a general repair service, and we typically do not accept repairs for items made by other makers. Thank you for your understanding.

Every effort is made to ensure that all items are in optimal condition when shipped. If an item is damaged in transit or if you notice any defects, please contact us within three days of delivery so we can arrange an immediate exchange.

If an item breaks through normal, everyday use, we are happy to repair it free of charge. However, if damage occurs due to misuse, the repair cost may need to be covered by the customer.
For any repair request, please contact us first by email with your name, the item name, purchase date, and a description of the damage or issue. For faster service, you are welcome to bring the item directly to Atelier Shinji Ginza.

Important: When sending an item to us for repair, please wrap it securely with air‑cushioned foam or bubble wrap and place it inside a hard box to prevent crushing during transit. Postage is the customer’s responsibility, and we cannot reimburse items that are lost or damaged while in the mail.

Imperfections

Atelier Shinji jewelry is handmade, not machine‑produced. While we take great care to create high‑quality pieces, the handmade process can result in subtle nicks, marks, and surface variations.

These intended imperfections have been cherished by our clients around the world since the 1970s. Our work is also represented in international art galleries such as Carpenters Workshop Gallery, where this wabi‑sabi aesthetic is celebrated. Much like Japanese ceramics, these natural irregularities reveal the maker’s hand and the creative process. This reflects the taste and philosophy of our founder, Shinji Naoi, whose signature style has remained consistent for over five decades.

As with any item meant to be worn and enjoyed, jewelry will naturally develop signs of use over the years. In Japanese aesthetics, this gentle aging is something to appreciate—similar to the spirit of kintsugi, where time and wear become part of the beauty.

Returns

Due to the one‑by‑one handmade nature of our pieces, we are unable to accept returns based on a change of mind. If you notice any defect, please contact us within three days of delivery so we can arrange an immediate exchange. Thank you for your understanding.
